1.png VPN(Virtual Private Network) is an encrypted connection between a device and a network. It helps to safely transmit the sensitive data. It prevents unauthorized people from sniffing your packet and keeping it safe. Packet is a technical term meaning your data.

To understand role/purpose of using first we need to understand the working of internet:-

The picture explains the working of internet. Basically what meant is that, from our device(pc, mobile, tablet, mac etc) when we send a request to a site like youtube, facebook etc, when it reaches its destination if only site allows us then only we can surf on it. In this whole procedure our ISP(internet service provider) or any other professional hacker has our IP and can track us due to which our identity no more remains our because our data is not encrypted(protected) and if the packet(data) is sniffed we can't do anything.

So here comes role of VPN:- What VPN does is it masks our identity. We can't get tracked here.

Like if a site/game/application is not allowed in your country we can access it by using VPN. It will mask/change our identity i.e IP and we can use the application without any restriction. Also we can say that this connection is very much secure and packet is properly encrypted even if it is sniffed it can't be decrypted easily. IP: It is like our online address like in real life our home address. IP's are of 3 types(IPV4, IPV5, MAC).

VPN is of 2 types:

  1. Paid VPN
  2. Free VPN In using free VPN security remains a question mark here("?").

EXTRA INFORMATION If you are using VPN for surfing sites or using open wifi's then it's ok to use because here speed does'nt matters but if you use VPN for gaming it troubles because of high ping.

PING:- Ping is a software utility used to check connectivity of host on an internet protocol(IP) network. When using VPN it increases/add steps(of encryption and decryption) to your internet traffic reaching its destination making it more complicated, decreasing speed and increasing ping. If we use a VPN server near our geolocation then this difference is less noticable.
